Big Island driver licensing services still down

MEDIA RELEASE

Driver licensing services in Hawaii County are still not functioning as the result of a fiber optic cable breakdown between the county and state offices.

The problem surfaced Friday and has affected vehicle registration and driver licensing services.

Motor vehicle registration services have been restored, however, while driver licensing services were still down on Wednesday afternoon.

Currently personnel from the State of Hawaii and the County Department of Data Systems are working diligently to restore full services.

The County’s Motor Vehicle Registration & Driver Licensing Division would like to thank the public for its patience and understanding during the breakdown. Until further notice, please call the office, 961-2223, to see if driver licensing services are operating before going in.
